Suicide Goddess

Image

Ixtab was the Mayan Goddess of suicide.  For mayans, suicide was a honorable way to die, to clean up your sins or mistakes in life, to purify your soul of all regrets, a clean passage to eternal rest. Ixtab was the guide to the suicidal souls, she was also the guide to warriors dead in battle or women dead during labor (giving birth), this souls were taken by Ixtab directly to Yaxchá, the mayan tree of life.
